How to get to the Czech Republic -

- go to Prague first.

How to get to Ceske Budejovice

- from Prague.

Most of European and many worldwide airlines provide flights to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Other option is to fly to Vienna (Wien, Austria), but in this case, check your need for visas to Austria.

Within Europe, you can use several low-cost airline providers. You can reach Prague also by bus and train lines from several European cities. In case you decide to use this way of transport, you may also want to check for a line directly to Ceske Budejovice.

To continue from Prague to Ceske Budejovice (CB), the best way is to take a direct train to CB. The trains to CB depart from the Prague Main Railway Station (In Czech: Praha, Hlavni nadrazi).

To get to the Main Railway Station from the airport:

use Prague city public transport  - at the airport, in front of the terminal, get on bus 119. Go to its end-station (Dejvicka).  Right there, walk down to the metro (subway, underground) station Dejvicka (metro line A and go 5 stops to the station Muzeum. At Muzeum, change to metro line C (direction to Ladvi) and go one station, to Hlavni nadrazi. A total time of this ride (all the way from the airport to the Main Railway Station) takes about 45 - 60 min. You need a ticket of a value of 20 CZK, which you can purchase at the airport in a ticket coin automat (outside at the bus stop) or from the bus driver (increased fee for 25 CZK) - have small change ready. The ticket must be validated inside the public transport by inserting it into one of the stamping boxes located on poles in the vehicle. For the whole ride (airport - train station), you only need such one ticket.

 ▪  arrange a Prague Airport Transfer beforehand

a taxi* - it is safe to take taxi from the airport to the main railway station. Local taxi services are AAA radiotaxi and DIMO taxi.

* unfortunately we cannot honestly recommend the reliability of taxi services in Prague downtown (i.e. outside the airport) - they will safely get you wherever you need to, but they will almost surely attempt to rip you off with no hesitation !! L

We  recommend  a  direct  train  connection  from  Prague

Direct trains from Prague to Ceske Budejovice departure from the Prague Main Railway Station (In Czech: Praha, Hlavni nadrazi). For the ride, you need to buy a ticket before you get on the train. The tickets are available in the ticket windows in the main hall of the railways station for 204 CZK (Czech crowns). The trip takes approximately 2hrs 50min, however due to some constructions on the rail corridor it sometimes take up to 1/2-1hr more. Discounts: when two or more people travel together, there is a "group" discount for the fare. No other discounts are available.

The departures of direct trains from Prague are at:  6.07 am, 7.14 am, 9.14 am, 11.14 am, 1.14 pm, 2.14 pm*, 3.14 pm, 4.14 pm**, 5.14 pm, 6.14 pm, 7.14pm, 9.14 pm (the trains go daily unless indicated otherwise - see below). These days due to constructions on the railroad corridor, you may encounter delays and/or necessary train/bus changes, which are however always safely arranged by the conducted on the train - so just follow the crowd.

* on week-days only

** goes daily with exception of Saturdays

In case of arriving from Vienna, direct trains to Ceske Budejovice departure from Franz-Josef-Banhof (Franz-Josef-Railway Station) mostly twice a day: at 6.21 am and 4.59 pm. The ride takes ca 3.5 hrs. Tickets are available at the railway station.

Warning: Please, be aware of pickpockets! Keep your valuables safe.

                      - how to reach the Conference Centre.

                      - how to reach the student hostel.

The conference centre and the student hostel are next to each other (within 50 m), see the map. You will reach them the same way, see below.

From the railway station and bus station

Railway station and bus stations in Ceske Budejovice are next to each other (within 200 m). From there, you can reach the conference centre easily:

By public transport:

Across the street from the railway station (you need to use underbridge), right in front of the Mercury shopping centre, there is a bus/trolleybus stop. From here, take a trolleybus No. 3. Go to a stop called "Jihoceska Universita", which is the 6th stop of this line. When you get off an turn around, across the road, you see the faculty campus (see the map).

Before getting on to trolleybus (or any other public transport), you need to purchase a ticket for 12 CZK, either in a yellow ticket coin automat, newspaper stand or with a trolleybus driver (increased fee 20 CZK ticket). The ticket must be validated inside the public transport inserting it into one of stamping boxes located on poles in the vehicle.

By taxi:

Taxi stands are in front of the railway station. Request to be driven to Biological faculty at Branisovska street. In Czech: "Biologicka fakulta, Branisovska ulice". (Not all taxi drivers speak English, so a piece of paper with the destination might be of help). The approximate distance is 4km and the cost should not exceed 150 CZK.
